The Rail-Mounted Container Gantry Crane (RMG) is a specialized machine for container handling in storage yards. It operates on rail tracks using yard power and is equipped with a 20'/40' telescopic spreader (or twin-lift spreader when required) to lift, stack, and handle containers within the yard.
Key advantages include electric drive for clean operation, high lifting capacity, and fast gantry travel speed even under load. The RMG consists of four main systems: the lifting mechanism, trolley traversing mechanism, gantry traveling mechanism, and a sway-dampening mechanism.
Control & Drive System
The lifting, gantry, and trolley mechanisms typically utilize an AC variable frequency control system for smooth operation. The standard lifting mechanism employs a single-drum design, with a double-drum configuration available upon request. Our company provides customized design and manufacturing to meet specific user requirements.
Key Components
Trolley: Utilizes a circular trolley design as part of the lifting mechanism, suitable for complex lifting points.
Crane Traveling Wheels: Manufactured using a specialized vacuum casting process, resulting in a hard-wearing and durable outer surface.
Control System: The entire crane is controlled by a Schneider variable frequency speed regulation system and Siemens PLC. It is also equipped with remote monitoring (RCMS) and operation capabilities.
Container Spreader: Features a high-precision spreader suitable for handling international standard containers (twin-lift spreader available as an option).
A Rail Mounted Gantry (RMG) is a specialized material handling equipment used in ports , container terminals, and intermodal yards for efficient cargo movement. RMGs are designed specifically for handling containers and heavy loads, such as pallets and bulk materials. They are powered by electricity or diesel.
RMGs are commonly used for container loading and unloading , cargo transportation within a port or terminal, and container stacking in depots or yards. They are equipped with spreader or grab attachments for secure lifting and movement of containers or other types of freight.
